also, tower is sadly going out of business and having a liquidation sale, which means that instead of being $17.99, the new timberlake is $1.799 cheaper than that (i fire math!)

i did get the new klosterman book, IV, out of the sale though. the first chapter on britney spears' oblivion to her cultural status was the stuff of legends.

yall indulge me here. last december i did one of those pretentious 'top 20 albums of the year' lists that no one really cares about but serves for a great deal of self importance, and i was just looking at it and thought i would update my top ten from last year. so here were my twenty favorite from last year:

i just downloaded some music from itunes that takes me back to certain points in my life. Isn't music funny that way, in that it soundtracks our existences, even when we don't realize it does? But instead of hearing the Psychedelic Furs and thinking of Pretty in Pink, i hear songs that take me back to nights spent crying in my college dorm room, or laughing with friends, or playing nintendo, or whatever else. And yes, i'll be totally vulnerable right here and admit that i downloaded a dc talk song. SOOOO LLOOOONNNNGGG MMMMYY FRRRRIEEENNNDD....

i'm back "home" from a week and a half that was completely great in every way possible. i think that the rating scale for the greatness of a trip is how many inside jokes a person leaves that trip with. i think i left with around 53. i loved getting to see and be with everyone i was with.

i'm back in south florida now and, to be honest, outside of some friends i have here, i don't really get south florida at all. the culture makes no sense to me. i think i could write a book in four volumes on this place. i wish i could just pack a few people into a joe vs. the volcano style suitcase (most notably a certain married couple) and take them to all the places my life will take me. oh well. new orleans in august.

i also have been thinking a lot about what my life is supposed to look like. i don't know if i'm called to go overseas, but i think maybe God is calling me to live a missionary lifestyle. and i'm not sure exactly what that looks like, but i want to know. it's the only thing that makes sense to me now. especially after being away in the mountains for a week from the things that just serve to fill time. that week was so beautiful.

i read three books on my vacation, with the most notable being donald miller's "Searching for God Knows What." i had read all his other books, but for some reason avoided this one. foolish chet. i'm going to read it again and try to get everyone else to read it that hasn't. it meant a lot to me.
